Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes

What if you had the choice of blindly having surgery to triple your intelligence, or staying ignorant. This is a conflict that rose in the realistic fiction short story called Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes. In the story, the protagonist is Charles who isn’t smart for his age. Charles takes an operation that will soon progressively make him smarter. Charles experiences difficulties throughout the story. Later, Charles’s knowledge deteriorates, which he held for a period of a hundred and thirty-five days. After the surgery, Charles found the true meaning of life and had better experiences, therefore the surgery was an opening to life for him. Charles says it was worth it because he was smarter which was what he wished for.
